Our baby & new room...on the way!

With a new baby due in only a month, we decided to take on building a new room in our house.  We chose to take our 2 story foyer and turn it into a 9 foot ceiling downstairs and a small room upstairs.  Our builders, Greg Bedell Construction, were awesome.  They got the entire job done in 2 weeks with minimal disruption or mess.  Here are some photos of our home's recent transformation.....

Here is the 2 story foyer divided by the framed-in floor/ceiling.

A look at what the foyer kind of looked like before the new changes.

The ceiling is taking shape.  It is 9 ft., matching the ceiling of the 2 adjacent rooms.

Framing in the walls and doorway of our new room.

The foyer with a ceiling installed.  It's coming along...

The connecting door between our master bedroom and the new room upstairs.  Having it connect to our master bedroom makes it an ideal sitting room if we ever move.

The wall and door are in.

Our new 9 foot ceiling!  Looking pretty and dressy with a small chandelier  :)

The new upstairs room is painted peach.  Even in the evening with no lights on, the room has a soft glow.  The ceiling fan will help keep this upstairs room cool. (But it still has an air vent for A/C and heat)

Dan burned the midnight oil on a saturday night installing a solid hardwood floor in the new room.  He laid this floor himself, and this photo was taken around 1 am...that's dedication!

A view from the office looking all the way through the new foyer and into the dining room.  A seamless transition in ceiling height and smoothness.

The hardwood floor of the new room extends out into the hall outside our master bedroom.

The hardwood floor is finished and looks great!

Currently, my 2 craft tables, 2 tall bookcases, and all my craft supplies share space in Gabby & Evie's nursery.  Since the only time I can scrapbook or bead is during their nap, I rarely get to work on my crafts.  This new room will change that!   This mom hopes to get some much-needed decompression time....some "me" time   :)   I am looking forward to enjoying my new craft room!!!!    If it weren't suiting up to become an amazing craft room, it could become a nursery, a sitting room, an office, or even the coolest large walk-in closet a woman could drool over.  So many possibilities!

This room begins its new life as a temporary bedroom for Dan's mom who will visit us for a couple weeks when our new baby is born.  We are pleased to offer her an actual room to enjoy during her visit, which we will outfit with a twin bed and table.  It sure beats bunking in the playroom!   :)

It feels great to have completed another home improvement project. With Hannah having a tonsillectomy, construction on our home, and our baby girl due in about 3 weeks, this family doesn't do anything in half measures!  :)
